Everyone Is Born An Artist

So every time I refer to myself as an ARTIST some smart person always takes time to remind me that stick figures don’t qualify as art! And every time I hear that, I can’t help but get annoyed not because of the subtle hit-job, but because of the limiting factors people place on themselves. A limiting factor that says:

If you don’t draw like everyone else then you’re not an artist.
If you don’t dance like everyone else then you’re not a dancer.
If you don’t blog like everyone else then you’re not a blogger.

No wonder so many people today are running around trying to create the next huffingtonpost or the next facebook, instead of trying to create the next innovation.

So this sketch “Everyone is born an artist” is simply me drawing a LADY as everyone else see’s her and me sketching her in my stick figure fashion…eat that HATERS!

They fail to forget the level of mind creativity that goes into these drawings. Your “stick figures” speak volumes, louder than some magnificent oil paintings. Stop the limitations people!

  2. You’re right, you’re an artist! Anyone that disputes that shouldn’t be reasoned with. Art is not limiting. Once your portraits convey the message you intend for them to convey, that it art. Your drawings tell a story, a clear story, and we, the targeted audience, appreciate the beauty inherent in them.

Keep up the good work and pay no attention to those that would kill for your talent but would not acknowledge such. They make that much noise because they have not the capacity to appreciate your immense talent. Don’t bother with them!

  3. Like I said, in my status post yesterday – " kick the "obstructionists" to the curb"! U are right – we are "all" artists"… we can all imagine, inspire, innovate and create. U might have to wrestle with the "haters" to take your "crayons" back, but the outcome will be worth the fight! Keep doing what you're doing – I love your artwork, and your website rocks!

  4. People tell others what they believe about themselves. I love this sketch. Let’s stop judging and condemning others so we can stop judging and condemning ourselves and maybe feel some permission to try something NEW!!

    Thanks Ofili!! Keep innovating!

  5. This is an awesome note. I have been in sales for over 10 years and it is always about how you brand yourself, your niche, your audience, your demographics etc. I agree with you when you say that "Everyone is born and artist."
