You Can Be Anything…

So I was watching Cameron Rusell’s TED talk “Looks aren’t everything. Believe me, I’m a model.”

And there is this part where she is giving advise to young girls who want to be models…and she says quite simply to them: Why? Why do you want to be a model when you can be anything else…a President, a Doctor or even a ninja chiro-thoracic poet! And I agree with her!

We can be anything we want to be in this world or we could even create our own crazy and unique job. But whatever we decide to do, we should aspire to be different, to do the things that are unexpected.

While everyone is scrambling to be a model, why not try and own the modelling agency or magazine. While everyone at work is struggling and fighting to get that one managerial position, why not focus your energy on your other side business? Remember you have the power to be anything you want to be…anything! Even a Ninja-chirothoracic-Engineering-writer like me =D

A while ago, I read a statement on someone’s facebook page. It read “create you own job description and find someone who will pay you for it”. Yes we can!

  2. While we are trying to be anything we can, can we please stay away from BOMBING and KIDNAPPING and Violence against women biko.
One more thing, in becoming anything you want pay attention to understanding the industry you want to play in really well. Don’t tell me you want to be fashion designer and you don’t even know what Spring/Summer means.

    • Exactly. People will say they are photographers and they know nothing about composition, lighting and all. Someone will come and say she’s a model and she can’t walk properly. Or a makeup artiste that can’t differentiate between skin types
