Stop Endorsing The #BokoHaram Madness

This post has been seen 1625 times.

So some weeks ago, New African magazine announced Abubakar Shekau the Boko Haram mastermind madman as one of the 100 most “influential” African people of 2014.

Now I understand what they are doing when they link him with the term “influential” because he has definitely influenced/altered the Nigerian way of life with his senseless killings. But when he is listed in this so called “influential” list what ends up happening is that the media subtly endorses/promotes the actions of Boko Haram.

I mean I could picture Abubakar Shekau browsing the internet and grinning as he sees his name listed amongst the top 100 and commending himself for a job well done … the irony! We really need to stop the madness quite literarily! Because Boko Haram is not a religion, it is not some sort of strategic movement …  they are just a bunch of mad men running around killing innocent civilians aimlessly … so let’s stop endorsing the madness!

I couldn’t but agree with you. How in the world could he even have been ranked influential for his satanic bloodthirst. So much for the media trying to do the news-is-news shit without recourse to human sensitivity. The same savage insensitivity depicted in “The Nightcrawler” movie.
