UPDATE: N546,000 raised! We Are Building!
Donors: EazyHomes, Okechukwu, Effiom, Justice, Folarin, Banji, Rume
3 weeks ago this particular classroom at the Ken Ade Primary School located in Makoko was surrounded by just sheets of corrugated Aluminum. With holes cut out to simulate windows and walls held up by pieces of wood.
But, today thanks to Instagram crowd funded support the school has been able to knock down the Aluminum and erect concrete walls.
But as you can see in the picture, there is still a lot of work to do. The classrooms (primary 1-6) need real windows, the ceiling needs to be completed and walls needs plastering plus a splash of colors.
Recently, we were able to get Eazy Homes out there to cost out the work needed to finish up all 6 classrooms. The total came out to N546,000. The breakdown … Sliding Windows: N153,000, Inside/Outside plastering: N220,000 and the ceiling N191,000.
Fortunately, Eazy Homes plans to cover the cost of the ceiling repair, leaving N355,000 left. Our goal has always been to get the kids back to school, but we also want to ensure the schools they go back to are up to standard.
If interested in supporting the school re-construction, then you can send donations to Okechukwu Ofili Diamond Bank 0064206894 or PayPal firstname.lastname@example.org please put the hashtag #KenAde so I can track the payment. I will provide updates on the construction work and funds raised.
PS: Once all the construction work is completed, we would have a PAINT PARTY at the school. Where we would go out to the community to help paint the walls of the school. We would also use that opportunity to meet the students, their parents and the community.
Let’s help raise the remaining N355,000!
