The King Of Nigerian Writers

So I heard this song Control by BIG Sean and wondered what it would be like if writers battled like rappers and this is what i came up with…

MY RAP VERSE
I heard the coffee shops spittin’ great debates all the time
Bout who’s the best Writer? Achebe, Soyinka and Sarowiwa
Ekwensi, Adichie, the rest of y’all
New writers just typists, don’t get involved
And I ain’t writing no more stereotypical african shit
Mutant power’s and Alien invasion, this is red Planet anonymous
I’m usually cool with the same writers I’m hangin’ with
But this is real and them writers should know what time it is
And that goes for Eghosa, Adaobi, Tunde Leye
Seun Salami, Shoneyin, Helon,
Sefi Atta, Nnedi, Teju Cole, Selasi
I got love for you all but I’m tryna murder you writers
Tryna make sure your core fans never read any of your writing
They don’t wanna read not one more noun or verb from you writers
What is competition? I’m tryna raise the bar high
Who tryna jump and get it? You better off tryna skydive!

PS: Take it as humor, don’t go sky diving and killing yourself.

  1. Dude do as a favour and RHYME next time. Great ideas but zero rhyming cohesion. this is like a talented kid who doesn’t yet know how to express himself. Hiphop is nothing without rhymes. Be guided.

    🙂

  2. This Ofili guy sha, I have a problem with your blog; each time I visit, I attempt (and fail woefully) to read the entire contents of your blog. I literally have to drag myself away each time! And the best/worst part is that I can completely relate with most, if not all of your posts…sometimes it seems you lifted the ideas from my head (lol). This is all probably irrelevant to this post sha and sounding like a lot of behind kissing, but I’ve been here for over an hour rummaging through your blog, I just have to say something. You’ve got a great sense of humor, and a ‘pragmatic’ view/opinion of life. You’re doing a great job inspiring people, really, you have no idea how much you inspire me. I hope someday I can be better at it than you are lol. Thanks for all the free inspiration…..in retrospect I probably should have emailed this lol.

Emmm this is not a rap website. Just read it don’t try and make it flow, you will be wasting your time.

      Sincerely
