How Not To Fight Corruption

This post has been seen 9486 times.

You don’t fight corruption by simply locking up Governors and shaming 419 scammers.

You do so by developing Universities that actually equip students with tools to financially survive in Nigeria, by developing a middle class so that wealth is not as glorified … by creating an environment that will help ensure that corruption is a last option for many.

Until we do that, we are killing mosquitoes without throwing out the stagnant water and wondering why they are still biting us.

Words of wisdom as usual for @ofili. The issue of parading governors and Yahoo boys on Tv is just a show to present the EFCC as if they are really doing something. its important that we collectively work to re-align our value system, the fact that a well published professor would be earning a little above 1M as annual salary, while an individual that stumble into political office would be taking home millions as monthly/weekly largese does not help matters.

Locking up governors may not be the only way to fight corruption, but Nigerians need to know that when they steal, they will get caught and be punished.

  4. You’ve said it all. But I also want to add that we should not cripple Nigerian investments, yes they were bought with stolen money but we have to consider the workers there that have had values added to their lives. A good example is Cosmo fm, that used to be best radio station east of the Niger.
    I rest my case
