I have been fortunate to participate in several amazing discussion forums over the years such as the one above (@ The Silverbird Abuja Monthly Book Jam). The format is always the same…a group of people typically about 4 to 5 in number are seated at a table in front of a room. The event is guided by a moderator who fields questions from an eager audience to the panel while simultaneously creating conversation amongst the panelists. The result is often a stimulating and interactive conversation. Unfortunately this is not always the case! I have sat on panels where I almost strangled a fellow panelist! But I managed to control myself and instead decided to take out my anger and frustration on my blog as I tackle the 5 Things That Ruin Discussion Forums!
 

Growing up I always wanted to be like Superman…I wanted to be the one that fought off villains and rescued the world from evil. All I had to do to realize my dream of saving the world was simply to learn how to fly…so I practiced as much as I could; running around the house with hands wide open while my bed sheet hung precariously around my neck as it flapped vehemently in the wind. But no matter how fast I ran or how high I jumped I could never quite fly…but I kept on practicing jumping from my bed to the ground and then from the top of the dresser to my bed, inching higher and higher. My flight sessions soon came to a crashing halt…quite literarily as I attempted a jump off the balcony of our 2 storey building…almost shattering my skull in the process. My Mum immediately put an end to my flight dream with a series of well delivered cane strokes and verbal scolding.
 
So I began chasing my dream in another way

So I get approached on a regular basis by businesses, organizations and individuals to guide them on developing a Website or Page that connects. My normal process to assisting my client…is to firstly study their current website before providing feedback. In my 5 years of analyzing websites, I have come across 10 consistent and deadly mistakes that people make when designing their websites. These mistakes are not technical in nature, meaning that you do not need a high level of HTML knowledge to see and fix them…they are very very simple and by avoiding these mistakes you will be able to create a website that blows people away.
 

You are at work, everything is flowing seamlessly. You are getting stuff done at the fastest rate ever…you are in what we know as the ZONE. The ZONE where everything clicks, where answers that have evaded you for weeks can be found and where to-do-lists are actually empty! All the information is flowing seamlessly and you are about to crank it up to the next level…when you hear a chime followed almost immediately by a pop-up box blasting its way onto your computer screen. It is a meeting reminder…

It is my belief that all great ideas hate paper. And as such you should do everything you can to ensure they get off the pages of your journals. This is your responsibility…and it is not optional…because the world needs your great ideas.
