Are Nigerian Police Allergic To Rain?

And along the Benin-Ore Federal Road, I counted well over a dozen check points, from Customs Officers to FRSC to Police Officers … I think I even saw LASTMA!
2 days later, I did the reverse journey … Benin to Lagos but this time I did not see 12 check points, not even 6 and not even 3! I saw ZERO check points? Yes…ZERO as in none, zilch, nada!
What had changed? Was it because it was Sunday the supposed day of rest?
I’ll tell you what the difference was. It was the “rain”
On Sunday it rained, not like heavy heavy rain. Just normal rain. The type you can survive while wearing one of those Super Ted rain coats we bought but never used in Boarding house.
But yet there was not one single officer on the road.
I guess when it rains, you can transport the car you stole across state borders, you can rob people in their cars, you can drive with expired licenses, because our police officers are allergic to rain!
But when the sun shines, they come out in droves setting up check-point both illegal and legal to inspect our wallets…I mean vehicles.
